The City by the Bay is based off the Anitaverse, a world created by Laurell K. Hamilton. This is a world where vampires have been declared citizens, you can get vaccinated against lycanthropy and the stripper at the local nightclub might just be a wereleopard. The police have a special division to deal with preternatural crimes, the Regional Preternatural Investigation Team – also known as the Spook Squad. There’s even a Church of Eternal Life, where converts are sought to enjoy the salvation of vampirism.

We do not allow characters from the book series to be used in the game. Aside from copyright and intellectual property issues, characters like that are difficult to play at best. All characters on the game are created by the players themselves.

We are specifically not World of Darkness. There is no masquerade. While in Europe and some other parts of the world preternaturals are still not trusted and may be hunted, in the United States they have legal rights. There is virtually nowhere in the United States where one would be ignorant of the existence of these “monsters”.

Etiquette is important in this world. There are rules about vampires greet each other, how lukoi challenge each other and how each faction interacts. They tend to be very formal, especially when situations are tense. Informality can get you killed, or worse.

In spite of the preternaturals among them, humans number quite a bit more than the monsters. They hold the jobs the shapeshifters and vampires cannot. Some of the humans are more monstrous than the monsters themselves. Think of the man they call Death.

There is much in this world to explore and enjoy. We do hope that your time here is spent in fun, even if it does get a little bit scary at times for our poor characters!
